why are there so menny more motorcycles and car sold overseas in europe, japan, australlia, and even canada we don't get the naked gs500 anymore and look at this http://www.suzukimotorcycles.com.au/modeldetail.php?intBikeID=103
thats a naked gsxr600 and there is yamaha's tl-o1 and tl-06 the honda cbr125,250,and 400 allong with the suzuki and kawasaki 250 and 400 4cyclender sport bikes what about the honda hornet 250? why can't they import those bikes here and more? i mean they even sell the harley davison xr1200 witch if you know the xr1000 of the 80's it a badass dirt tracker hell even evil kenivel rode an xr750 harley
there are so menny more bikes and cars over there and i don't understand why (they even sell the same cars and bike over there as here so they have twice the choices than we do)
hell if i would have had the option to start on a honda hornet 250 instead of the ninja 250 i would have!
and then insetead of the gs500 i might have gone with a gsxr400 or cbr400 or zxr400 or somthin don't get me wrong i love my sv800 but come on (no that is not a typo it is a 650 bored out to drasticly oversquare)

final word if they would sell these bike over here they would sell allot more bikes i mean think about it instead of selling a $10k busa to an 18 once and hime killing himself you could sell him a gsxr400 witch still has like 70-75hp for $6K and then a gsxr600 or 750 and then a busa or m109r you see what i am saying they could make like 3-4 times the money off of people if they werrent retarded!

The American automobile market is driven by horsepower. Naked bikes are still fairly unpopular here.
It's simple economics for them to not spend the time nationalizing models in the US that wouldn't sell well enough.

Besides, a 18yr old kid who gets a gsxr1k is doing it for the popularity of it not because its practical. I have a friend who wants to get a brand new r1 as his first bike, all i said was "dont kill yourself because thats to much to start on for someone who has never riddden" but yet he is still bent on buying one so whatever. Its called natural selection, those who want to live are smart enough to ride what they know they can handle, those who dont care ride what makes them appear cool to everyone else

max i couldnt agree with you more. i was actually just talking about this.

It is SO stupid that dont import these other models. Beginners have no market for good entry bikes. the Ex 250 and 500, gs500 are not attractive models. people want race replica bikes....no way ur gonna see em on one of these. i think the mini race rep. bikes would sell great over here in the states.

:wtf:

And a displacement limit/graduated licensing program. Even though it would have prevented me from buying my bike, I think it'd help everyone.

This "natural selection" negatively effects all of us... Insurance rates are higher, motorcycles are viewed as dangerous, cop have a tendency to hate us, and potential riders are held back.

Their moms see motorcycles as dangerous because so many kids die flying through traffic on their R1 so they don't give the kid a bike... they could give them a small learner bike and the breeding of a long-time motorcycle rider begins, but that doesn't happen because the kid is hellbent on a new R1. Make him get a smaller bike first so he learns his shit and he'll eventually be a safe R1 rider... or he'll give up and move on to skydiving or something.

i think a limited displacement graduation system would me awsome (hell thats what they d over in europe) plus if they made everybody start out on say 250 or less then when they were finished with that they would sell it to some newbie and gett a bigger bike i think that everyone would win people could get cheap used low milage motorcycles the manufactures would sell more than just one bike to a client everything makes good buisnness sence and as for them not selling over here and it being a hastle and not worth their time isin't this country a democrasy? let us decide what we want!

and on a side note i had to hunt arround my local area for 8months to finda a naked sv650 and even then i had to travel 250miles because they werren shipping the bikes to the retail store because they would rather sell the s version for more $ i hadd to do to the ware house!!!!

and it would make the big 4 have greater diversity in their markets instead of having 600,750,and 1000cc supersports and a couple of birt bikes you know?
choosing bikes here in the us is like living off the micdonalds dollar menu cool at first but gets annoying when you see someone walk by with a big mac
