I want the actual braking surface of rotor to remain black.

Like this one (for bike)

Or this one (for car)

Any idea if there is something similar available? Couldn't find anything on the net.....

i don't think such a thing exists. in both pics, the rotors are just covered in brake pad dust/residue. the actual rotor will still be bare steel

:edit: steel that is black has a coating or is painted, the pads will just rub the coating off, down to the bare steel.

Maybe it's not steel.....
In 1st picture, That's Scrub MMC (Metal Matrix Composite) rotor for bike

If you have a lot of money, you can get some ceramic composite race rotors. Costs $1100 per rotor though. :run:

Anything metal with pads will get polished up, even if its coated from the factory with a protective coating. The second pic its just a brake disk with a drum and the drum is painted black and the lighting and camera pic make the disk itself look black, when its actually shiny.


My alfa romeo has black disks except for the pad surface as its polished due to braking.

But I've heard that the hardness is of SiC only softer than diamond
So the SiC coating should can be works..... (?)
(SiC usually coating on carbon or ceramic or aluminum rotors)

Yeah, but they arent COATED with that stuff, they're infused with it during production. And aluminum brake disks are made with an alloy that includes Silicon carbide.. Nothing about sprayin some black stuff afterwards on them...

it just aint gunna happen, doesnt matter what u coat them with its gunna be worn down to shiny steel after one ride.

Just spray-paint a standard brake disc black and use it for whatever photo shoot you're planning with your bike. As far as I know, the brake disc isn't exactly easily visible when you're on the bike and riding it.

You should see my rotors on my racebike! pffff...
Anyway, i think you have to give up with the idea to turn your car disks black!

yeh you're looking for something that doesn't exist outside of carbon composite. why, anyway? they're such a minor part to the overall look of the bike I suspect no one would actually notice.

is black forever...

the price was 3 years ago realy cool 350€ /450 USD for the pair

and they work absolut fantastic.
he use ebc sinter goldstuff brakepads for them...
