Hi everyone
I have been looking into a tail swap for my 85 zx600a1 and I think I might have found one for me :)
I borrowed this tail from a friends brother to see how it would look and I believe it is a 03 yamaha r6.
the mounting points line up with the subframe so that is good and just need to move the bottom support
what are your opinions on it?

i like it... but what do YOU think about it

Oh i like it a lot just was curious if it has enough pizzazz to others
I am the type of person who will do what I want so if everyone says it ugly but I like it then I will do it.
But I do take advice so if maybe you thought it needs to be raised or lowered then I will try both ways and see if I like it more
The tail will look good on there but I think the whole tail needs to lifted higher to flow better with tank. Not the angle higher but the chop off subframe and build a new one that sits higher. It will make it look more aggressive too. IMO
Yay! Now make it work.
yeah I agree. looks good but move it straight up if possible. Leave the angle though. looks good.
^^x3.

Looks good man but I agree....if you could move it straight up.

My only issue with it is the lower subframe bars being visible. That just screams "I don't belong" to me. You know what I mean? Can you chop and re-weld that lower support bar so that it's hidden by the fairing?
Much better, now just build/mod the subframe to work with that.

Yeah I agree the lower support has got to go
My plan is to only have that tail showing

Do you think it would be easier to take the r6 sub and adapt it to the zx6?
Hello again! Funny, I have that exact same tail at home. The only issue I had with it was that it was too low and it felt really cramped. You almost have to chop the whole subframe and re-angle it so you sit higher. That being said, I do love how small the tail is and if you can pull it off it will look rad!
Yeah that would be ideal if you can, take the r6 sub frame and mount or weld it onto your frame where you want the tail to sit. I don't know if the frames are same metal though, steel and alum. Otherwise cut yours off, re angle or move up, whatever you have to do, and weld it back up
While I am not 100% sold on that tail, I do think it looks best with the higher placement in the last pic and am curious to see what you do with the subframe!
Okay guys my plan is to make a sub frame and move the top support further up on frame and raise the lower support as close to the top support so that i can have both supports under the tail hidden as much as possible
Hope to have this done by the end of next month since now i have to put money in other places on the bike
I rode it for the first time the other day and it felt great but is having clutch issues so now i have to figure out either rebuild the clutch or try a different cable
i can't let the clutch go more than half way out because the bike shuts off and when i rode it there was a clicking sound on the wheel and turns out when taking a close look my right front rotor is slightly bent :/
I am only working a part time job so i don't make much to finish as quick as i would like to
