Well got to do some work today, daughter just up and brought me my key today for the bike... long story....
So I decided to see what all is needed on the subframe swap and tail swap to the 600RR.
First things first is the rear peg brackets,
So close, figure Ill just brill the hole out and put a nut on the backside of the retaining bolt. Other side will need a bit of dremel work.
Then I removed the stock subframe, LOVE the look without a seat, unfortunatly its not realy rideable like this.
And then figured out the mounting of the new subbie, Will only take a couple spacers and 2 little brackets to get it where I want it. Im just gunna use some pieces of angle iron for the brackets, and might end up just using hollow tube steel for the spacers.
Realy threse 2 problems with this swap, 1 is the 600rr front seat mounting is weird if one of you guys can post up a couple pics of the actual seat and its mounting Ill be very appreciative! Another problem is due to my lack of funds for a A123 battery, my current is like an inch taller than what a 600rr has. Shouldnt be TOO huge of an ordeal Ill just drop the battery mount an inch or so, and glass in the little spot it sits.
Now the bigger issue is the tail plastic, my frame is a light wider than a 600rr, so realy the only option I have is cutting the plastic, which I didnt WANT to do. But Ive got 2 ideas, one is cutting it so its basicly the pillion for a tail section, then painting the subby so it looks nice. Should look pretty decent if I opt to go that route, definatly be a one of a kind.
Another option is to trim back the insides of the tail plastic at the forward horns, and also cutting off the forward most point. This option I could keep the tail looking like a 600RR the most, and the triangles obviously need trimmed back quite a bit too.
Oh and I need to make a bracket for the gas tank bolt down, and also get a few bits for the rear seat latch, and a stock 05 rear seat. Im going to use what I have currently to make a cowl, be able to pop em on and off.
