I just rigged up the stock tailight so I could ride it around until I make up a mount and put on a smaller light. I put the small turn signals on the rear end but the front signals have three wires. The rear ones only have two. How do you mount up the small ones on the front w/the extra wire? Like I said, I am not very mechanically knowledgable.
The 3rd wire is probably for the running light of the blinker assembly. I used them for power to a fog light on my CB360. ;)

Looks good, can't wait to see it with new blinkers and tail light.

I gotta admit when you first joined up and chopped the back end of that 750 off I was a little curious what direction you were going with it, the more time that passes and the more updates that show up on this thread, the more impressed I am by what your doing!

Sure I come off as an asshole at times, and sure, my opinion may not matter to most, but I know what I like and I know what works well, and what your building there fits both categories so well it's unbelievable. Bravo, that 750 is turning out to be one outstanding machine!

You've peaked my interest, can't wait for another update.

:shocker:

I love it, the low slung front end matched to the long muscular swinger/wheel/tail combo out back with the GSXR lights and 80's style dash. It looks borderline serial killer. If a bike ever looked "Evil" I would have to say your CB is there 110%.

Very nice, I think whatever route you keep taking this bike is the right way to go.

The real winter project starts. That was tuff pullin that motor!!

Really? I hear this alot, but the only bitch of a time I've ever had removing an engine was with a Toyota MR2 (yes, a car) because it comes out of the bottom of the damn thing.

With bikes, I usually get a helping hand and when the engine is ready to drop I just lean the bike over on the right side with some wood/foam layed down and the engine just falls right out (not literally!). I do the same thing with getting it back in. Of course, disconnecting the suspension helps so your only moving around a bare frame rather than a whole engine or roller. :D

Glad your on your way to glory dude, can't wait to hear how it rev's with the new cams!

I did the exact same thing to fit GSXR throttle bodies to a Toyota I had some years back. I gotta say that CF has a bunch of mad scientist type's roaming the boards. Moments like seeing these carbs mounted up makes me grin and know that I'm right where I fit. :D

Only question I have is how smooth is the inside of the connections? Could pose an issue with tuning if your getting some disturbance of airflow with any sharp edges sticking into the tract. Took almost 6 hours of die grinding to match everything up for my ITB setup. If you do run into problems you can always make some replacements for the rubber boots out of some tubing and plate steel. Been there done that too.

I should have spoke up sooner, but, I have found with all my swapping over the years that changing out the steering stem is 100% the most effective and easiest route possible. Grind off the weld on the bottom of the triple, take it in and get it pressed out if you can't do it yourself, have a collar machined for the smaller stem in the bigger triple and get it all welded back together. Easier said than done, but effective none the less.

Hope that helps ease the frustration of this all. Did it with Zed and going to do it again with my XR500. ;)

Thats a big no, cant weld steel to aluminum...thats why ya need a colar machined to press the stem into then press that into the tripple.

The lower triple has a tapper, a press fit is all ya need, it cant pull all the way through.

This.

I've heard of press fit collars being used on everything from your factory sportbike to land speed holding streamliners. It's quiet the common practice to fit a more logical fork set to a desired chassis.

I managed to luck out with Zed and my XR being all steel parts. I tend to forget they make bikes out of lighter materials. :D

Ok, Took a little spin. Clip ons are way too low. I need to find some 7/8" bar clamps that I can drill the top triple and mount. Anybody point me in the right direction?? Google has been runnin me around to mostly clamps and risers that are for the fat bars and bolt to the old clamps. I have to drill mine. I will then go with some type of super bike bar set up.

Thanx for any help.:D

Yamaha risers. A quick search on ebay brings back a good amount of risers for them with the retaining nuts and the length of them works well. I personally run them on all my builds, they are strong, well constructed, and the XS series risers look great with 6mm allen hardware.

These are not cheap, risers on risers for added height and comfort:

As for bars, you could always follow my route and buy from Fly-n-Cycle. They have an awesome deal on parts such as headlights and bars. These are the shit! And you can trim them down to be 29" wide, but they start as 33". ;)

Maybe I'm going against the grain here, but I LOVE the dual headlight setup. It sets a different standard to vintage super sport builds. I think it really sets your bike aside from ALL THE OTHER vintage builds I see. I feel your CB is fucking iconic in the world of modernized and well built bikes. The more this thing evolves the more pleased I am that you follow your own desire. A few people discussed what they thought would have made Zed just right, but I think the final result was more perfect than most could have interjected. ;)

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned it before, but, when the build first started I was rather struck by the direction you were going. The more I watched, the more I got excited about the prospect of signing onto CF to see a subscription update! :D

I won't pretend like I saw this end result coming, nor will I act like I liked what you were doing at first. Being totally honest. The end result has me amazed though. Just like what my brother did with Zed, I didn't "get it" like you guys do. Hell, my builds you can clearly see the direction from the word go. You guys have a progression all your own. Much respect!

If you win anything it should be "underdog of the year", totally outta the blue!

Congrats buddy. One of my favorite Honda F model's I've ever seen. Can't wait to see what comes next. ;)

Smoker triple... :drinks:

I was sorting through the ads on ebay motors last night and came across a few Suzuki triples. Nothing under a grand that was worth "project" status. But the few I did come across made me want to sell everything I have, take out a large life insurance policy, make sure I'm up to date as an organ donor, and build one of the stupidest machines I have/will/probably ever own.

I really really love the 550's, had a 380 some years back and wish I could have done more.... or had pics, but the 750's sound amazing too! 3-1 for the win!

:party-smiley: Sweet sin that is an amazing sound!!

Sorry for the thread jack. Just got me thinking and made me itch to share this vid I came across a few days ago. :D

44 seconds in...best part of the vid :)

Yeah, that is awesome. Glad I wasn't the only one to catch the humor. :D

ctluba, wow, I'm usually really good with words (as most notice) but there just isn't any way I can describe the awesomeness your CB gives off. The tail, the shocks, the swing arm, the front end, everything, it just... FITS.

Few bikes make me want to go out and DESTROY back roads. Your bike is now on the list, and it's a small list of dream bikes to thrash like they are tonka trucks in a sandbox. ;)

Excellent work man, I'm REALLY glad you signed up and put your build on CF. Anywhere else and I would have missed out completely on one of the best updated, fightered, customized, and ridden CB750's on the web. Sure, a Freddie Spencer replica is cool and an updated 900/1100F can be sweet, but when an owner puts their hard work, effort, and dedication into making something completely their own it ranks as high as ELR clones and FS replica's for me.

Only other CB I can think of that is taking shape as something else all together is SEBSPEED's 900F build. It's got enough update and enough personal panache to have all the right stuff. I usually don't speak of my personal bike preferences, but I feel it's safe in your thread as it's the holy grail of what I believe in as a builder. :)

Again, awesome build,

I had such good performance from the unibear o-ring chain on the Harley i had to put one on the punisher as well. 530 pitch, 112 link o-ring chain, $35 delivered off eBay. Can’t beat that shit!!

First off, it is awesome to see you're still around and the Honda is still alive (I loooove that bike/build :D) and even cooler the Harley is still the weird, cool, awesome contraption it always looked to be. :D

On the subject of ebay chain sales, I feel bad that I don't really frequent the local shops as much as I used to due to the fact I can buy bulk chain on ebay, ships to my door with 5 master links and enough chain to do 5 bikes, and tires ain't a bit different at all. 99% of the reason I even went into the local places aside shooting the shit and checking out the used bikes, was for wear parts. Sadly, even I'm drawn to the cheap and easy of the internet when it comes to getting a decent deal. I know the locals have families to feed and bills to pay, but, times are changing and it's becoming harder and harder to pay the markup for something I can get for cost if I just wait a few days for shipping.

The first chain order I made on a bulk chain supply was 520 non O-ring, when it arrived I was stunned to find that the stock photo they used for the listing wasn't quite what I had received as it was Parts Unlimited packaging, all setup for a dealership to cut 5 chains, put them in the supplied Parts Unlimited boxes with included master links, and likely sell each one for more than I paid for the entire bulk chain order plus the shipping.

tldr; Name brand chain in bulk off ebay, is the same cost as a single chain locally.
