Hey guys, I'm new here, but not new to bikes. Someone on Facebook suggested I post pics of my 2002 Buell Blast streetfighter (name: Honeybee) on here, so here it is. I did all the work myself. Yeah, the Blast is sort of an odd bird to make into a streetfighter...Please keep in mind this is not meant to be a show bike. Just a purposeful streetfighter. Anyway:

There's still a couple things I need to do to it. Those mirrors are going and being replaced with CF ovals, and I need to finish polishing the tank cover so I can put Buell decals back on it. It's also rather dirty right now, so it's not very sparkly.

List of mods:

Headlight
Headlight brackets
Front directionals
Grips
Handlebars
Bar ends & bar snake
Custom Intake
Rejetted Carb
Aftermarket Exhaust with fiberglass wrap
Rearset controls
Custom steel dash that I fabricated, with aftermarket tachometer and custom gauge cups
Faux carbon fiber striping and accents
Blackout LED taillight with built-in auxiliary directionals
Second LED taillight so assholes don't rear end me (hopefully)
Stainless brake line for the rear (front will be switched once I have a fork brace)
Mods to the tank cover and seat for clearance around the big air filter

Future mods:
Reupholstered seat
Fork brace
Stainless brake line in the front
Custom passenger pegs
Custom front pegs because I don't like the ones that came on the rearsets
Sandblast and paint the front drive pulley
Relocate the rear brake reservoir
Fabricate a sturdy carburetor brace
Suzuki Hayabusa steering damper
Maybe chop the tail

I dunno, that's all I can think of. I'm just happy to be riding it right now, and it definitely sounds the business and turns heads because people don't know what the hell it is =)

That's what the carbon fiber vinyl is for ;-)

I agree that it is a bit odd with all that air space behind the cylinder, but meh...not much I can do about that. Like I said earlier, I may make/adapt a toolkit to stick there to fill up some of the space. Might be cool. Also, I still need to make a carb brace for it, so that will also visually fill up some of the gap.

Welcome, KustomKlassix has a pretty sweet Buell Blast
Very cool!! I would love to have a solo seat on mine too, but I don't think my passenger would appreciate that ;-)

Hey there! Yup, thanks for directing me here =) Lots of cool bikes and cool people.

You have a VT250...that was one of the bikes I wanted back when I first started riding. I'm a little jealous ;-)

A little bit, but I try to keep my knee off of it. The pegs are pretty wide apart (imo) so my legs are already splayed out anyway when I'm riding. (No comments about that, please! XD )

God, please no...I have an awful habit of taking in "strays" (ie: basket cases) and never doing anything with them. This winter I got rid of two CB350s and one CB200. Good riddance!

I still have another project bike, though. That will be a cafe racer...eventually...

very sweet bike dude, looks like the kind of machine that could get a guy into trouble for being too light and tourquey... lol! always wondered what those are like, they must have a powerband kindof like a DRZ, or at least one would hope. does the bumblebee name justice at any rate, keep up the good work friend!

Yeah, it has a very flat torque curve, which is nice. I do have gripes with the engine, though. Like...I can't let it go below 3000rpm or else it vibrates like crazy, and I get the best power out of it from around 3500rpm 'till the rev limiter cuts in at 6500 rpm. So, I basically have only a 3000rpm range to work with . That kinda sucks, especially since I'm used to revving my honda anywhere from 1500 rpm to like 10,000 rpm! It's just a totally different animal.

But anyway, the Blast is a very fun bike...light, low center of gravity, you can lean it over in curves until you scrape the directionals (practically) and it has a big, stoppie-inducing front brake. It also goes right up to its electronically limited speed of 94mph very easily and without fuss (wish it would do the Ton, though). It would probably be good for stunting, actually...but I don't do that sort of thing.

phoebe. . i was comparing your bike to kustomklassix bike and theres some big difs there. . . did you make that seat unit on there??? things fuckin huge! like a school bus seat

:D

also i see you have rearsets on yours....is his the factory piece?? weird how they're forward controls essentially. how did you go about getting those on there? or are they made FOR that bike??

the thing i like about his, is how open it looks. . . smaller seat and no belt guard etc. kinda flows with the openness of the motor cavity. lightens it visually.

i've seen a couple cool blasts here and there. . . mbe one of our pic whores will link up what im talking about. . . or there may be a buell streetfighter pics thread.

anyway keep up the DW'ing!

No, that's the stock seat. All I did was modify the right front part of the seat for the air filter clearance.

I'm not sure what you mean by them being forward controls, because they're definitely rearsets. They're aftermarket, discontinued ones made by Crossroads. Installing them is just a bolt-on affair. Getting the stock peg brackets off was a *real* pain in the ass, though. There's three nuts that hold each bracket on, and it took me 2 hours to get all 6 off...all because they're practically inaccessible.

Yeah, that's why I'd like to do something to the tail, since the whole seat assembly thing is really long, and the rear fender is kind of unnecessary.

Thanks! =)

So are mine right now! Actually, they're in a box in the basement. It's too bad the front pegs and back pegs on the Blast are attached to the same bracket, otherwise it wouldn't be an issue. But, I was checking out the seat subframe this weekend, and I think I'll be able to make up a pair of brackets for pegs without much fuss. And, I'll be able to remove them, too.
