Got my top yoke, risers and pro taper SE bars all sorted now. When I get round to fitting them on Monday ill post pics of progress. Does anyone know about the speedo pulses required to drive the speedo accurately on the 919 type speedo? I currently have the speedo drive off the gearbox sprocket and the clocks I have are from a bike with the speedo drive in the crank cases. I need to know the difference between speedo pulses etc as I can build a microprocessor circuit to drive the new speedo etc.

Unless you're dead set on building it, just buy a speedo healer. These work first time, are easy to set up if you change gearing or tyre size later, etc.

I already have a picaxe micro controller and the programming is dead simple it's just a case of the maths. I could do it with trial and error but I would rather do it right first time. May have to get a speedo sensor or two setup on the lathe with an oscilloscope.

I was thinking oscilloscope. I have a 98 with original everything, is there anything I can check for you, either by just looking or a basic multimeter? The speed of the gearbox shaft is the same as the final gearing didn't change, so you just need to know eg. if it's 4 or 6 pulses per rotation, right? It may change by a fraction if you're changing tyre size or final gearing though.

Hmm.

Aftermarket digi clocks will have a tuning factor built in..?

I am thinking of fitting the later blade clocks that look like the 600 ones as I want it to look OEM for ease of use day to day and they are nice. So it's just the pulses per revolution I need to know, from that I can program the picaxe controller to trigger x number of "events" to drive the speedo based on a trigger "event" from my original speedo drive. I can also include external inputs in the form of switches for frequency adjustment in order to fine tune the speedo for gearing changes etc.

The only way I can think to find out without an o'scope is take the engine apart and count the magnets on the gearbox and I'm not doing that. If you have a suggestion let me know and I'll do it.

I have a 929 motor under my workbench so ill just pop the speedo drive off that and count the teeth on the wheel, I have a scope to check the gbox sprocket sender so ill be doing that shortly. I only asked the question to see if anyone knew off the top of their head what the pulses are etc

How do the cbr ones could work. I want to be able to cover from the frame rails down. So need the fairings minus tail and headlight section

Let me know if they are any good tbh if they are shattered I will plastic weld em lol

Sorry mate, I don't get what you are asking. Can you rephrase?

This isn't my build thread nor a parts for sale thread, however here goes: I need some fairings, but I don't know what. You don't know my build so you also don't know what I need. But I'd like you to figure out if what you have is it. ps. I'll probably offer you ÂŁ10 for the lot and be offended when you decline.

I've got good at decoding this kind of message over the 10+ years I've been frequenting bike forums.

Haha, I thought that may have been something like but without grammar and maybe an introduction to requirements it's difficult to decypher. I'm not here to sell our parts etc, just to chill out and share progress of my personal bike. I think there are forum rules about unauthorised advertising anyways isn't there.

Yeah what he said minus the patronizing parts!

I am after some fairings that will cover a SV from the frame rails to a belly pan. As I have seen the OP's post I will apologise and let him carry on with his build

Subbed btw build is really interesting

No probs mate, have a look through as many pictures of as many bikes as you can and if you find a style you like let me know and ill see if i have anything either similar or exact, but i need to know models first before i can look through my parts.

I also have build updates too and more piccies....

I have now fitted the new top yoke and risers with some snotty but straight renthal bars and my twin scorpions have now found the correct position under the tail unit. The exhaust will take some fabricating but its all good.

The exhausts are currently held in place with duct tape ready for the link pipe to be made, i am waiting on some stainless pipe before i set about that.

I put an '00 seat unit on my '96 years ago but did it all a bit home-brew and wasn't that happy with the bracketry I made up. Could you show the brackets used to mount your setup please? I am kinda wanting to update my '98.

edit: scrub that, I just realised it's a hybrid subframe :)

Y piece and link pipe will all be made from a straight length of stainless steel pie cut to create the bends. The pipe will come up through the rsv swingarm and over the top of the rsv shock reservoir. It will require heat wrapping from the base of the link pipe all the way to the cans to avoid over heating the shock and melting the underside of the seat pads. I will be doing it as soon as I get the pipe work in.
Tonight I have made the top mounts for the vfr radiator and fitted it to the frame, lower mount needs doing tomorrow and then I need to modify the fan cage to fit the vfr rad.

And I keep getting these naughty thoughts about fitting a blackbird engine too, we have one sitting in the workshop and it would be soooooo nice. However it is a lot of work and a lot of money's worth of engine to put into my personal bike. VERY NAUGHTY THO ;-)
