Thought I would throw some pics up of my progress on my project bike.

For some crazy reason I can't find a picture of the bike before I started my teardown. Might have been a bit too excited to get started to take a photo.

Here it is with the wheels off and the seat removed

While I was waiting for the rear wheel to front conversion kit I put some clip on bars on.

Finished the conversion on the front wheel and painted it.

How about that for clearance.....

Threw the rear wheel on

Finally off the lift and have the tank held up with a 2X4 at the height I am thinking the tank should be

A little better view of the new Speedo and Headlight (The tank will be repainted as well. Going to get rid of the the flames)

Slid the front forks up in the triple trees to the height I want the front end at

After I cut the springs and lowered the suspension 2". Moved the forks back down

Built a temporary rear subframe out of aluminum just to get an idea of the shape and feel I want.

Rearsets installed.

Shortened the wiring harness to fit snug under the tank and also welded the tunnel closed on the tank. The tank is sitting just a bit higher than I want at the moment but I get to that tweaking in bit.

And this is how she sits at the moment. I hope to get back to it after this next week. I will post pics as I go along.

83 Yamaha Virago XV750 Cafe Project update

I have been working on this bike for what seems like forever. I only get a few minutes here and there to toy with it. But here is a little bit more progress.

This is the rear subframe. Sorry about the clutter... I just moved and we were still unpacking.

Oh and I found a picture of the bike before I started my project:

Here is the rear I carved out of foam. And the progressive steps to covering it with fleece and fiberglass resin over that to make a hard shell. next will be to fiberglass cloth the inside a bit for some strength. I have the side covers done as well.

Sorry for the long break in between updates. And I know I haven't gotten much done. But it's a work in progress.

Coming along nicely man. Hope the tail unit ends up as promising as it is looking now.

The front and rear tires are 130/90-16's.

As far as the tank goes.... I closed off the back of the tank... Right now it is just resting on that. I plan on cutting and welding a bracket onto the bottom of the tank to hook up to the stock mounting point.

Thanks for all the great feedback. Keeps me motivated to keep the project moving along.
