Spede & Urkki are a former Finnish comedian and a former president of Finland. They've grown tired of their fishing trips and are looking for something else to do... like building a motorcyle. First thing, though, is to find a base bike.

The metal looks thick enough for it to probably not be a problem but this adjustable bottom mount does look as sketchy as some of my own "engineering"!

Is it needed?

Well, I guess not anymore, since we've found the ride height (and there's some adjustment on top end as well), but I don't see a problem with it. Sure, the hole is open a bit, but the shock is also in an angle, so the pressure is not in that direction.

Turn up a small plug to fit in the bottom hole when you're using the top hole. Should reinforce the two ears from being able to collapse or start chewing in to the bolt. Just a thought.

What keeps the upper mount from rotating, though?

Oh, looking forward to see what you do with the belt drive.

Glad to see some conversation here. As it turned out, the height is fine on the bottom hole, so no plug needed, but it's a good idea, should we for some reason need to change the setting.
As for the rotation, I don't think there are forces that try to do that and there's not much room for the shock to turn anyway. We'll put some lock washers in and tighten it up. Should be fine.

Bwaaahahaahah! The second one!

Aw man, that cheered me up this morning. Also since you pointed out that the vids come out on Fridays i'm looking forward to the end of the weeks even more now!

It's a CRF150R with a 164 big bore kit, more info on my sig. There's a front end chart somewhere in here, but basically I think they mostly have the same dimensions. I recall some older gsxr front end would've slipped right in without even changing the bearing.

No, they'll stay as a reminder of what a crappy welder I am :D
(Actually the welding machine isn't great either...)
