So I get back from my trip after picking up my gixxer. Working Monday, my dad(who hates motorcycles) tells me our family friend has a motorcycle he will give me. He gave me vague info on it. Well, I got it today.

Its a 1975 Honda 750 four. I got it from the second owner. Under 20k original miles, great shape, just needs carb work. Idles, but wont accelerate. Has aftermarket bars, sissy bar(already off), full exhaust, a few covers, etc.

I think my plan is to make the thing an old school bobbed cruiser. I want to stuff a fatty back tire in it, and will have my 95 gsxr swinger free here soon, so that might make its way in there(I already measured, and its close). Going to keep alot of the stuff on it, yet going to yard alot off. Anyway, build won't be that intense yet. Just a quick build to make it cool until the snow falls. Here are some pics.(better pics soon, forgot camera)

So my detail for the day moved to tomorrow, so I got to DW for a while. First thing last night when I dropped it off, I scrapped that damn sissy bar. This is where it started.

Then off came the carbs and apart they went.

Got them back on and it runs really damn good. It only idles for about 10 seconds though, and I was told about a passageway to clean, so I'll do that soon.

Then a buddy brought me a set of dirt bike bars, so I mocked them up to see how I feel.

Image

And I'm not sure how I feel. It looks too stock-ish I think. I want something more oldschool and with more attitude. Anyway, hopefully I get some more work tomorrow or Friday for sure. Overall, I'm into it $8, for carb cleaner and a fuel filter.

Looks good man!!

as for bars.. my vote would be straight/drag style... would let you get lower but still wide enough for comfort and control.

Well, the bars work for now, but I am thinking about the drag or flat bars. I think I will be able to get the look I'm going for with them. I was going to keep the gauges and all, but the more I think about it, this will be a bare bones cruise around town bike, so fuck anything legal. I'll probably throw one mirror on it, just cause I like the look, and wanna see when I'm getting pulled over.

I'm moving ALL controls off the bars. I hate busy bars. I might just eliminate half of the features anyway, we will see.

I got alot of ideas last night, browsing. This won't be cafe styled, and some of you may not like it, but I don't really give a fuck. This is a free bike, which will be just to mob around town for the time being. Who knows what will happen this winter.

Awesome. Glad to know. I was going to run gauges until I decided to not cafe it. I'll rip that stuff off and ebay it asap. I could use some money to get a few things for it. Oh yeah, sell the sissy bar too :LolLolLolLol: Oh, and the seat.

No, no finned stator cover. Its just the one side. It also has some custom plugs for adjusting valve clearance, yet only in the front.

Thanks for the advice. It was my plan, but I hadn't checked around yet.

Well, I got to cutting a little more. Hacked out the center portion of the frame so I could get it low to see how I feel about it. This is where it stands now.

And this is my idea for the rear frame. The red would stock 1" tubing, or maybe 7/8" if that's all they have, and the green, would be a bolt in strut, so I don't completely ditch the idea of ever running shocks.

Image

Now, I'm into the build $23 now. I have all the tubing for the frame, and some to make some bars. I don't know if I want to go broomstick, or slight angle back. Might do a suicide shifter. Ditching the gauges, not sure about taillight yet.

Now As far as in the rear, I thought about doing a tail like Zro's, all tubing. But, I think that I should probably run a small fender instead, so I might cut up the stock one. I have a girl who really wants to ride on it, and would look good doing it, so you guys think I should make the seat extra long so she can ride on it with me, or fuck it and say wait for the gixxer?

Exhaust wise, not sure yet. Mine hangs low, but I like the pipes. Might wrap them, might now. I think I'm going to tuck it up as far as I can, then maybe make the pipe that came on it work. You guys see any problems with only having 3-4" of exhaust clearance on a hardtail?

All opinions wanted. Let me know what the fuck you think.

I think you should just ditch the shocks anyhow. Trust me, once you ride a hardtail you won't want them. It's fun. lol

Build a weld on rear for it. Kick that back wheel back another 3" and I'll cut you some axle plates on the plasma table at work for free and send them to you.

Let me see if I can find the link to this other forum that's all jap based customs. You'll see some things that will make your wheels turn like crazy. ;)

Too bad I made some drag bars today. Screw you, bobbers are cool. My cbr has been called cafe enough, and the CB weighs a fucking ton.

COPY CAT. Glad to see you going another direction with it.
Thanks. Don't wanna be a copy cat. I hated those in grade school.

Now I want to do the same thing. fuck you
So get the fuck to work bitch!

Man, the stance on that thing makes me say haaard tail.
Yeah, I think I'm changing my subframe idea...

I thought you said it was a gs750???
My dad is shit with info. He thought it was a Suzuki 750. Wrong. Honda CB 750 four. A 1975. Nonetheless, its sweet as fuck.
