Hi all, after weeks of searching through pages and pages on this forum on how to 'streetfighter' a fireblade, I gathered all the info I needed and then decided to sell my GIXER 1000 and brought this 954 fireblade on an 04 plate.

As you can see she was in mint condition.
Before I carry on i'd like to say thanks to everyone on here for sharing there info, and how to's, keep up the great work!
Hopefully my build might do the same for someone else.

The VFR 800 swingarm from an 02 Vtec.

Removed all bearings and trimmed the inner edge of the swingarm down, 4mm on the foot brake side.

This should be your end result

A big thanks to Papabear and r3voltn1 for this info.
next thing was to make up the sleaves for the vfr swingarm bolt, i got the cbr swingarm bolt.

Cut it to the lenght of the cbr engine (183mm) and bored the inside out to 20mm, as this is going to be the sleave that sits in the back of the engine.

Then me mate Shaun at WOODS RFS turned up some sleaves to go over the ends of the vfr bolt.

Also got Shuan to turn down the vfr swingarm sleaves.
1. the sprocket side to allow the bolt to pass through further to the other side.
2. the foot brake side for the swingarm sprocket to stay allined with the front spocket.

Could anyone please help?

My knowledge for knowing the different grades of aluminum are very limted, and i'm now stuck trying to find out what grades of alloy the honda cbr 954 (03) and the Yamaha R1 (08) are made of, for me to continue welding the bike together.
Would using 6082 be best for welding them together.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers

After hours of sanding and filling, i finally got to primer the tail.

Then after all that hard work i decided not to go down the lithium battery route due to there aren't any suppliers in the uk, and didn't want the hassle of waiting for a replacement unit.
So i went with the off the shelf gel filled standard battery, which meant cutting the R1 tail about and then welding a box into it.

So back down to WOODS RFS to see me buddy Shaun to get a battery box made then welded into the R1 Subframe.
While he had the bike i got him to weld up another bracket to bolt the petrol tank to the subframe as welll as making it still tilt back for maintenance work.

Full Tilting tank

sick man! Thanks for the update! Keep at it, coming along nicely! You planning an undertail exhaust setup on there?
