took bike over to my MoT guy today, he was good enough to check the CO2 level and headlight aim , light is spot on, CO2 has to be below 4.5% at tickover, mine is under 1%

time to book a test

When the guy at the MSVA test center did my GS, with carbs that were not set up and running K&N filters, i said i was worried that it wouldnt pass the emissions test!! he said he had NEVER had a bike fail it in all the years he had been doing it. it passed with a massive margin :D

FAIL

Head bearings have settled, need tightened
has to have a steering lock
petrol tank decided today was the day to leak...... took back to shop, tank off, won't leak ????

leaked to too low a level to leak? i'll add more fuel later and investigate

nearly there , 171 days til TT

i'd just keep it.. i mean why not?

i'd done the same thing and always wonders how much movement there would be on a tank skin separate tank when your leg is pressing up to it..

yeah, but skinning a tank has a sealed tank inside, if it separates no biggie, this glass tank appears to be leaking after a couple of month , I'll be taking it 100's of miles from home

Is it a manufacturing error or is the material not capable of holding petrol? Be an awful shame seeing you having to pull a shortcut (of sorts) being so deep into the build...

hardly a shortcut, more of a "not holding onto a mistake, just because i spent a long time making it"

If i was to do it again this is exactly how i'd do it , quicker, cheaper, lighter, easier, repairable

The shortcut is what'll get it through the test and prob the next few months, i'm interested in long term fixes, this isn't being built for internet likes, it has to function

Fairy nuff. I'm too much of a stubborn fuck to know when to let go and usually just bang my head on the wall until one or the other gives. Usually it's the head :D and the outcome is rarely pretty.

thinking out loud, do I seal the tank for the test , then turn it into a cover with an ally fuel cell ?????
Which will you worry about less when you are far away from home?

Sealing seams easiest, but a tank cover and fuel cell gives you a lot of options down the road for fitting different things to the cell (fuel level sensor, pump fittings, etc) and ability to change the style with the cover.

fuel cell is a lot less worrying , tank has no seams as such, I know i can weld ally, if it was to have an issue I can repair no problem
