No more progress yet, we've all been sick here over the weekend.

My dad made a short video showing the building of the custom lockring wrenches he made for the custom lockrings he machined for the steering stem. Made on his homebuilt CNC Plasma table.

Check it out!

Well a lot of progress on the seat frame. Have it tacked together right now temporarily just to be able to sit on it, going to weld it final this week sometime when the frame is in a better position to weld. This kinda stuff is very time consuming...of course my dad did most of the work when it came to making all the parts and welding :)

Cutting the purchased seat hoop to fit the seat better (slight rise at the back of the seat)

More custom parts cut on the CNC plasma. 1st is a bracket that is welded to the old frame of the bike, while still allowing the new frame to be welded to it. 2nd is the rear seat bracket. 3rd is just a quick piece cut out and painted to block off the Sabre's fuel tank petcock and fuel supply lines. A more permanent cover is going to be made later.

Work on some brackets for the rear seat frame tonight. First made a template using cardboard, then drawn in Autocad, cut on the CNC plasma, tacked to tube, bent, and then grinded to shape to fit pretty much perfectly. Going to help with structural rigidity in the rear frame.

Great job so far! Will you replace the rear shock as well? What about the rear wheel?
Still debating on the rear shock for now.

As for the wheels, I might go with spokes next year if I can find the right hub for the rear (I think Shadow or Nighthawk). Because this is a driveshaft driven bike, wheel choices are extremely (if any at all) limited.

If you're thinking of going SSSA I'd suggest a SSSA from a Honda Goldwing 1800. I did some research to determine if it would work with my own V65. It would require a little modification but it's a far better fit than any other SSSA assembly. I was planning on doing this swap on my V65 Magna. You'll have the advantage of already having the single rear shock. I'll have to update the frame and build a whole new sub frame to make it work on the Magna. Good luck I've been following this thread, Looks awesome.

Interesting. Would have to look into it more for next year. Do you remember what had to be modified exactly? It looks like the swingarm bolts are very similar, what about the driveshaft length, etc?

I believe the drive shaft length was a issue. I don't have all the details. Besides it was something being researched and considered.

Took a valve cover off tonight just to see how hard it is to adjust the valves, and if there was any cam damage. Some of the lobes appeared to have some marks in them but still felt smooth (couldn't feel anything with fingernail on them). Need to get some 5 thou feeler gauges before I can adjust them properly. Overall the engine seems very clean inside for its age.

Today cut out a bunch of pieces on the CNC plasma. Some plates to block off the parts I cut off from the frame, the foot peg extenders, some more flat plates to support the seat and fasten the under-seat pan to, and some small tabs to fasten the side covers to in the future.
