How to check and straighten your triple clamps

Not too comprehensive, but I see this gets asked quite a bit, so I'll give my input and maybe the rest of you guys with experience can chime in.

I'll try and get some pics up in this post for visual aid later today.

One quick tell for triples is to look where the bolt clamps them to the tube - with the forks out of the triple, the two parts of the clamp at the cut gap should be even(horizontally) on a straight triple. if the triple is tweaked/bent, this will be from the tube getting cocked in the tree, which will cause those the ends where the clamps meet to become misaligned.

Also, if either or both of your triples are flat on the bottom, you can set them on a granite surface plate or piece of plate glass and see if they sit flush with the surface.

If they're only slightly off, you may be able to straighten them by bolting them back on the bike and using the end of one of your bent tubes to tweak them back.

The fork tubes should slide in and out of the trips easily and smoothly when everything is straight.
