well what a difference a fiddle with your jets does, managed to get her running enough to get out and do some miles through the North Yorkshire Dales, managed to put around 110 miles on her, still needs some fine tuning/adjustments, but for now she is very rideable and will wait till i have a few more breaking in miles under her belt for a Dyno session.

coffee stop in Masham

as the weather was warm and dry i took the EFE out for another quick 100 mile round trip, stopping off at Squires to meet up with the rest of the "Riff Raff" crew.

sorry to disappoint the Face book "experts" that forecast the total destruction of my motor within 1/4 mile, for running a Billet block on a road bike, always pleased to prove some folk wrong
:P

running great once on open throttle, little rich still on idle/transitioning. few more outings and Dyno time
(y)

plenty people running billet blocks , between Dave Dunlop and Stu Crane , i'm sure plenty of the detractors are merely poking you with a stick to get a reaction, the rest are internet experts, and if you're going to post pics everywhere its a given that you'll get as much flak as praise .

well done for sticking to your guns, even if I think you're a fuckin loony ;) :p

whats the issue with billet blocks?
some think that the lack of cooling fins on the block would have the pistons/rings over heating! but as i have seen a few with turbos on, producing over 250 RWhp with no problems, i didnt think i would have any problems with my build (y)

It will run hotter than the standard block, that's to be expected. How much hotter is probably a better question ? As long as the temp sensor is calibrated something like (got to cross that bridge myself) Running a hotter grade oil and checking changing oil more frequently will most likely keep it running happily.
Funny thing is Squires is so close I never go - it's not worth getting the bike out! And if I'm goung past on my way - doesnt seem worth stopping so close to home. Then again I'm an anti-social bastard anyway...

I think that i am actually over cooling at the moment, oil temp is not going above approx 70deg once hot, so might need to reduce the flow over the coolers or fit a thermostatic valve

I read somewhere that (depending on flow air temp and speed, that the oil cooler will provide 6-7 deg of cooling as the oil passes through. Thermo-static valve would be my choice give its early spring and you're probably not running it in traffic etc

going to order a Mocal 80deg remote oil thermostat/bypass as i think i am over cooling the oil, as she is only showing 70deg oil temp for most of the time, this will warm her up quicker and keep her there.

it will be mounted behind the exhaust headers, out of the way, also ordered some -10 hose fittings.

not done any work on the bike for a few weeks now, but managed to find a bit of "mojo" with the warn sun out today.

set about fitting the oil thermostat into the cooler circuit.

got it almost done, needing a 60deg hose fixture for the left hand side so i have hose clearance on the headers (on order) also

going to make a small bracket to fix the unit to the front engine cross brace to keep it all in place and solid.
