Hey Everyone I Started A GoFundMe Page For Donations For A Prosthetic Leg(Please Read)

So a few months back I caught up with an old high school friend who didn't know about my accident and my injuries. She immediately set up a GoFundMe account for me and started posting on Facebook asking for donations. This made me super nun comfortable and I politely asked Her to take it down, no hard feelings.

Anyways it got me thinking about it because I didn't even know something like that existed. I've spent the last few months thinking about doing it, but I really hated the idea of basically begging people for money especially people I didn't even know. I went and saw my prosthetics team a month back thinking for almost two years that the hospital would be giving me a prosthetic leg. Well as it turns out they completely misinformed me and my leg will be anything but free.

I'll be going back there in November to get fitted for my socket and the rest of the leg soon after and I have no idea how I'm going to be able to afford it. I decided to start my own GoFundMe account and hope for the best while I sell stuff off. I didn't even want to bring this up on this forum because so many members here have already donated money to me for hospital bills and medication and even gave me a really nice wheelchair.

I figured if I was broadcasting this kind of information on Facebook that I should just post up here about it so at least maybe y'all could share it on your Facebook or twitter accounts to spread the word and maybe get me closer to being able to afford a leg. I've had my GoFundMe account active for almost a week now and have only received a single $20 donation from a childhood friend of mines Sister so I felt like I maybe needed to step things up a bit and get more proactive about this.

I don't expect anyone here to give me any more charity. Y'all have already done SO much for me( you know who you are) and I will never be able to truly repay you for your awesomeness. All I'm asking is that you please share the link below on whatever social networking sites you're on or maybe email it to some people; just whatever you're comfortable with because I don't want anyone to feel obligated to participate here. Of course if you feel inclined to send a donation my way, I'm not gonna stop you! Donations can be sent either through GoFundMe with this link:
http://www.gofundme.com/cd89d4

Which I would prefer be shared with anyone you can share it with or through paypal, which I would much rather you do but please don't share my PayPal ID on Facebook or anything. The PayPal option I figured would be cool just for people here because I trust you all or for people that you trust. My PayPal address is markeads718@live.com.

OK so lastly thank you for taking the time to read this super long post of mine begging for your money like a bum. Thank you for helping me get the word out about this and for the immense amount of love and support y'all have given me through all of this.

right now I'm super jew on money but as soon as I'm flush again I will be throwing money your way. I didn't realise they were so damn pricey! best be some gold-edged kelvar fibre son of a bitch leg.

I'm sharing this on facebook, sorry if you feel uncomfortable but A. this forum/website has been good to me (for fucks sake I've been here since 2007, back in the days of haelo) and B. you're a fucking rad dude for having a what most would consider a tragic accident and coming out on top.

this place is a brotherhood, a family. one really messed up family sometimes. one day I hope to meet a lot of you. and go for a ride with you, jackstand.

Yeah, prosthetics aren't cheap, and a good vs bad one really makes a huge difference in your lifestyle. Fun note- one of the top bicycle component makers (Chris King) also designs and makes components for prosthetics. Wonder if there's any cross over on motorcycles? Good luck!

I was wondering who that was! Thanks bud anything helps, it really does. I fuckin love you guys. O was hesitant to bring this up Herr because I don't want y'all thinking I'm just internet panhandling to my friends or something. I would honestly fucking LOVE a CF built leg. Once I get a socket anything can be built off of it really. I would wear a Custom Fighters leg with pride. Black carbon fiber and lime green hardware, fuck yeah!

And by all means please do share this on your Facebook pages. Its easier for me to have someone else do it. I'm not as comfortable constantly posting on my wall about it. Plus it would just be the same people reading it again and again.

And Sebwiers is 100% correct. The difference between a good leg and a bad leg is the difference between me being able to live my life again with bicycles, motorcycles, boogie boarding, hiking and taking my dog to the beach and woods and me sitting on the couch angry and getting fatter and more gross by the day like I have been for the past two years. Your support is a huge help towards giving me a second chance at my life that should have ended where I crashed. Somehow by some freak chance I wasn't killed on impact and didn't bleed out. Thanks to your help I can make my second Chance count for something and it means the world to me. You guys are fucking awesome.

Sleeper, no I haven't and that's a really good idea. I hadn't even thought of that. Thanks for the good idea. Suban, thank you very much man. I just saw that you and one other person have made donations. Its only been a week and that makes over $100 already! I really hope this keeps building momentum! I was actually thinking on making one of those big cheesy dry erase fundraiser drawings where you color in the thermometer thing or whatever as the donations come in lol. Maybe I'll draw an outline of a leg and color it in. I guess its a good idea to keep track. I don't want one dollar to go towards anything else. Anyways I'm rambling. Thank you guys again.

Can we put an engine in it? Yes, we can! (Now, what to do for the other leg... heh, be careful what you ask for here, modification wise!)

Its funny you bring that up cause earlier tonight I was walking around on my crutches pretending to walk on two legs like I do(I guess I think it somehow is practice making my stump go through the motions...that and I'm just bored a lot) and I was making robocop leg sounds and I thought of how fucking rad it would be to have some kind of leg with a blow off valve or some shit to really pronounce that I've got a weaponized bionic badass leg lol. Id love something with crazy attachments and shit. Maybe I'll become a super villian.

I think carbon fiber with lime green bits would look fucking bad ass and I would absolutely rock a Skully sticker on it. In fact, that's always been the plan but if VS advertises this for me, don't tell them I was gonna do I anyways lol.

Hey gang I just wanted to post a little update here. I forgot but my apointment to see the prosthetics team at the hospital is actually at the end of THIS month, not November so it's a bit sooner than I first thought. That being said, PLEASE help me out by sharing my GoFundMe page on Facebook with your friends and family to help get the word out! I know it's a long shot and I know I'm already asking a lot of yall to donate but I'm hoping that the more exposure this gets the better my odds of really putting a dent in the cost of a leg. Thanks so much for your support guys. Lastly if/when you donate please add your CF screen name so I know who to thank! That's all for now.
