After I brought this home and washed it, I think this might be a restoration candidate instead of a streetfighter......what do you guys think?

I totally disagree with this.

There are bikes that just SHOULDN'T be fightered. But I think me and only a handful of other fighters think that way....oh well, F you guys, hahahaha.

Are you serious?? Fight that bitch out!

As much as I think the ass of that thing is just godawful square and gifuckingnourmous.....I'm gonna go ahead and say clean it up and keep it stock. Why? All I ever see around here is stock rockets, old cafe's, slowass harleys, or my cutthefuckup Sabre. I never see any old sportbikes like that.

I have no problem with someone cuttin something up. But ya just dont see old Gixxers in that kind of shape, most of them were raped and chucked down the road LOL.

If ya do cut her, I'm sure someone restoring thiers would love to get thier hands on your leftovers....mmmmm project money.

Personally, I don't think I could...the bike itself isn't rare but to find one in great condition nowadays is hard. I'd love to have a bike like that one day, just to have as is.

Personally,I'd check out if you got an oppportunity to turn a good profit before you hack. Slabby's in that condition are getting rare and over here they can go for some pretty crazy money.......you can always find a half-arsed fighter attempt cheap as fuck.
Aint emotional but wouldn't turn down profit.....:excellent:

Have bought it's older smaller brother recently a 1985 GSXR 750F for a full restoration over next winter,,not taking the grinder to it as i always wanted one,,maybe its a sign of getting older for me,i grew up with these been the first of the real sportsbikes available,,and to me it where Streetfighting really begun for the masses so for that reason alone i want it to sit in amongst the fighters in the garage sorta as a reminder to myself and the occasional spin,,Nostalgia i suppose..

If i do get sick of it and want to Mod it it'll be later model gear i put on it but no cutting involved,,,good condition parts and oem bits are getting harder to find for them and there is a good resale value available for them if looked after,,another few years and mine is classed as classic here for road tax purposes....Ohhh to be older:D

Very nice condition….

The only reason its worth keeping is because its rare to find them in that condition…but that one in that style isn’t rare.
I don’t know if you guys got these in the states but this is the one that I would not chop….Limited edition release in black and gold

And this is the other one I definitely would never touch with a grinder….
GSXR750 1986 race spec, they only made 500 of these… dry clutch, larger cams had the works….

In 1988 when I was a second year apprentice, my best mate bought one new (black and gold) man it flew and the second Chef I worked with at the time had the 750…that dry clutch sounded like someone was hitting a tea cup with spoons…..me I had my little old GS1000 and still do…

God it was a good time for sport bike freaks……:party-smiley:

go on chop it...........I dare you!

Not a rare bike in it's day......they were designed to be beaten to death I know.....
But it's rare to find one still in one piece after 25 years of abuse and or neglect......

I'll tear into it in a couple weeks to see what's still good and what needs rebuilt...girl friend says I have to finish bathroom rebuild project in house before I touch it....it will give me time to search eBay to see what it would cost for the original parts I know it will need.....
